Description:
POSITION PURPOSE Provide professional healthcare to Pediatric Cardiology patients as directed by a licensed physician and in accordance with policies and procedures. Participate in teaching, research and administrative objectives of the section. ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Provide patient care including clinics at the CHW Heart Center as well as in-patient care at CHW’s Intermediate ICU, Pediatric ICU and Neonatal ICU. Coordinate special management of high mortality patients such as hypoplastic left heart syndrome to increase efficacy of care and positive outcomes. 2. Participate in teaching. Develop and administer educational materials and educational programs for patients, families, staff nurses, and housestaff. 3. Participate in ongoing and/or developing clinical research projects in Pediatric Cardiology Section. 4. Participate in quality and improvement initiatives relevant to section activites. 5. Provide oversight of related supplies and equipment.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis
Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing. Prefer specialty focus in Pediatrics or Family Practice
Experience: No experience required. Prefer previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a pediatric or cardiology setting.
Certifications/Licenses: RN licensure in Wisconsin. Certification in Advanced Practice Nursing and licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber also required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Strong critical thinking, problem solving and attentiveness to detail required. Ability to communicate orally and in writing clearly and logically. Familiarity with PC applications such as word processing and databases. Ability to analyze information and solve problems. Demonstrate accuracy and an attention to detail. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences clearly and concisely orally. Ability to maintain confidences. Ability to implement teaching materials and perform clinical research. Prefer additional experience in direct patient care for children with proven ability to communicate well with children and parents under sometimes stressful circumstances.
