Description:
This Raleigh based position is responsible for providing project management oversight
for small to medium Telecommunications and IT infrastructure projects. Individuals
applying should possess leadership skills, be effective at building and maintaining
positive working relationships, and possess excellent communication, organization,
and collaboration skills. Responsibilities include providing leadership and direction
to cross-functional project teams comprised of individuals from different units/organizations,
utilizing best practice project management processes, and applying judgment and
independent/critical thinking regarding how those practices are applied to each
project. Candidate should have knowledge of telecommunications systems used by the
utility Delivery and Generation organizations. Additional responsibilities include:
File Attached Comments • Scope Management: Creation of Project Charters and Statements of Work
which outline project scope, budgets, assumptions, risks, timelines, resources,
costs, etc. • Project Planning: Developing project plans and monitoring project
status • Project Communications: Providing formal and informal updates to IT and
client stakeholders and sponsors • Change Management: Working with Operations staff
to manage changes to the computing or network environments and/or support procedures
and procedures • Cost Management: Monitoring and reporting financial status of projects
(actual vs. budget, project projections, accruals, etc.) • Resource Management:
Working with management and team leads to identify staffing for individual projects
and ensuring that project hours (both planned and remaining) are accurate • Schedule
Management: Ensuring that all project deliverables, checkpoints and milestones are
completed • Risk/Issues Management: Identifying and resolving project-related risks
and issues • Standards Compliance: Ensuring projects adhere to internal standards
and PMBOK best practices • Maintaining a knowledge of project management best practices
and IT/Telecommunications technologies • Independently organizing and prioritizing
daily work with limited direction from management Minimum skills: • 3-5 years managing
telecom projects Preferred skills: • PMP Certification Location:
