Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
Perform technical statistical analyses, graphical support and manage research projects for the CIBMTR.  These research projects assess the results of blood and marrow transplants including descriptions of patients and outcomes, identification of risk factors, comparisons of treatment regimens, and comparisons of transplants with alternative treatments.  Collaborates with principal investigators from around the world in determining study design, performing univariate and multivariate analyses.  Assist in the preparation of scientific reports and manuscripts describing the results and preparing materials for presentations of the results at national and international conferences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
 
1.    Coordinate biostatistical research studies of blood and marrow transplant patient data. Identify potentially eligible patients in the database. Communicate with transplant centers to verify patient data. Abstract patient records for specific research studies.
 
2.    Direct progress toward completion of 12-15 co-existing studies. Collaborate with principal investigators from around the world in determining study design.   Perform univariate and multivariate analyses and write-up statistics and methods section of scientific reports and manuscripts utilizing statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, BMDP) and Databases (ORACLE, SIR). 
 
3.    Prepare posters used at national and international meetings to report results. 
 
4.    Perform necessary statistical analyses in accordance with federal and private grants and contracts.
 
5.    Work cooperatively with database programmers regarding creation of new database variables and develop new report forms. Ensure that established protocols are followed by data entry staff and identify and correct database problems. Make recommendations for increasing efficiency of reporting.
 
6.    Respond to physician requests for information pertinent to patient care.
