We currently have an opportunity for Geologist/Hydrogeologist to become a part of our successful and expanding environmental and renewable energy business in our Los Angeles, California office.
The Position - The Geologist position will include a mix of office and field work. Office work will include researching and summarizing existing information on geology, hydrology, groundwater, soils, etc. for groundwater investigation/remediation and for CEQA/NEPA analysis of existing conditions and potential environmental impacts. Fieldwork may include collecting soil and groundwater samples, evaluating stream flow and drainage ways, description and logging of soil and rock samples, managing contractors, overseeing the installation of groundwater wells and piezometers, developing groundwater wells, sampling soil and groundwater, performing aquifer tests, and evaluating sample results to generate tables and figures to illustrate collected data. This position will also assist with hydrogeologic assessments and technical evaluations regarding sources, transport, and fate of groundwater and soil contamination, and conduct remediation alternatives evaluations.
Requirements –
· BS in Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Geology, Geological or Civil Engineering. MS preferred
· California PG or PE a plus
· Candidate should have 3+ years of related experience in a consulting environment
· Candidate must also have experience applying field observations to text, constructing potentiometric surface and isoconcentration contour maps, geologic cross sections, assessing surface water conditions, and a demonstrated ability to read and interpret geologic and environmental chemical data.
· Candidate should be knowledgeable of hydrogeologic concepts, soil and rock description, subsurface drilling and sampling techniques, and have a basic understanding of local geography and geology.
· Must have received or be capable of completion of 40-hr health and safety training requirements of OSHA 1910.120 for work with hazardous substances.
· GIS skills a plus
· Geotechnical expertise a plus.
· Candidates must possess excellent communication and writing skills, and be able to work as a team with diverse staff
· Candidate must be self-motivated, diligent, and reliable.
· Candidate must be familiar with IBM computer applications and Windows-based software.
