Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a Director, Advocacy Development (AD), to be a part of the Public Affairs team in our Parsippany, New Jersey location. In this position, you will work to positively impact the environment in which DSI does business, securing DSI's voice in important third-party, non-profit groups that influence the future of health care, and serving as the face of DSI to senior officials in these target organizations. Additionally, you will be responsible for being familiar with the wide variety of current and emerging business, health care, therapeutic area and special interest issues that could create an unfavorable or adverse operating climate for DSI, and for establishing strategic AD objectives and plans that work toward minimizing the issues and restoring a neutral or positive climate. You will work with subject matter experts and assigned leads within DSI to orchestrate company investments and set cross-functional priorities for our AD strategies. You will work to solidly position DSI as an ethical, credible, and respected pharmaceutical industry leader with the leadership of key non-profit and third-party groups.

Responsibilities:
In this role you will conduct third-party ally audits and work cross-functionally with DSI senior leadership in Marketing, Government Affairs, Managed Markets, New Product Planning, Medical Affairs, the brands, DSPD, and with development/marketing partners, PhRMA/HINJ and other DSI corporate trade associations on an on-going basis to identify those issues and organizations of most importance to DSI’s current and future business. You will establish and own the DSI AD strategy development process, gaining the support of DSI senior management for resulting plans on an organization-specific basis. You will orchestrate all aspects of DSI’s relationship management activities, including pre-existing and newly created relationships, in order to impact critical issues that might impact the lifecycle performance of DSI products. Over time, you will develop effective and enduring relationships with members of the executive staff and boards of these groups, expanding the network as needed to accommodate new therapeutic areas and products that may be added to the DSI business. As needed, you will identify and manage external resources to support these activities, including AD agencies, and establish metrics and measurement methods to track the impact of AD programs. As necessary, you will coordinate these activities globally.

Education/Experience
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of a BS/BA in a related field, including Health or Public Policy, Communications, Political Science or Not-For-Profit Management, (graduate degree preferred), and have a minimum of 10 years successful experience in third-party relationship management, senior-level positions within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
