Space Coast Credit Union located in Melbourne, Florida is seeking a proven leader in bank or credit union collections. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Lending and will supervise one Manager and one Assistant Manager. The Collections Department currently has a staff of 50 housed in Melbourne, Daytona Beach, and Miramar, Florida.
The Director is responsible for identifying underwriting issues through analysis of charged off loans and early delinquencies to make policy, procedure or reporting changes to better control underwriting risks. This position directs the implementation of new collection products by obtaining required legal review, documenting product characteristics and developing procedures, integrating the product into existing software applications, and ensuring that staff is adequately trained in a timely manner to ensure that the product is integrated error free within existing processes and that staff understands product characteristics and procedures.
A key job function is optimizing effectiveness through performance management of direct reports, staff and vendors. Technical expertise is important, but we also need someone who is comfortable setting direction, addressing performance weaknesses, and creating development plans for both internal and outsourced employees.
Previous experience at a financial institution is crucial. We are looking for someone who has been aggressive and successful in reducing delinquencies and implementing a loan modification program.
The ideal candidate is currently working at the Director level or has been in a management role for a minimum of 5 years and is ready to move up to the Director level. Technical knowledge of the principles, regulations and compliance issues relating to Collections and Loan Workouts is imperative. Experience with collections software applications is also a requirement. The candidate must be able to show evidence of analytical and problem solving expertise and success.
