Aurora Loan Services is currently looking for a Senior Statistical Modeler.
Job Summary:
Responsible for building advanced statistical models and help improving existing models and scorecards
Works under general supervision applying well established techniques, procedures or specific standards.
Work reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall accuracy.
Executes policies at direction of supervisor and makes recommendations for change.
May have an impact on the Division’s results, although controls are normally in place to limit significant negative consequences.
No responsibility for supervision of others.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Perform analyses, statistical design, statistical coding, and model validation in support of business requirements. Perform customer segmentation and clustering to improve understanding of customer needs.
Generate statistical code that executes in a production environment and incorporates error handling, exception conditions, etc.
Propose and lead innovative mathematical approaches to solving complex business problems, utilizing available research at your disposal. Translate modeling/analysis results into business recommendations.
Perform unit testing and model validation of statistical routines. Document the technical details.
Assess the methodological and functional pros and cons of implementing third-party products versus building an in-house system when facing a business problem.
May perform other related duties or ad hoc projects within the scope of responsibilities.
Position will report directly to SVP Reporting and Analytics.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Post Graduate Degree required in relevant function.
Master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Quantitative Methods, Operations Research, Research Methodology, etc.
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years professional level experience utilizing technical expertise and/or solid knowledge base and skill sets to process significantly important work with minimal supervision.
Specific Professional or Technical Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to produce both ad hoc analyses and production-grade analytic jobs.
Strong proficiency in SAS. SQL.and CHAID/CART.
Applied experience in several of the following areas:
Predictive modeling (including logistic regression).
Neural nets and self-learning models (including classification of skewed data).
Linear and non-linear optimization, etc.
Technical Skills:
Advanced analytical skills
Critical thinking and financial modeling skills
MS Access Database, Excel Spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and Word skills
Advanced numerical calculations
Advanced programming languages
Skilled with reporting tools
Advanced statistical analysis skills
Knowledge of Windows operating system
