Description:
This position is responsible for a variety of key cost and inventory accounting activities within Emcore’s commercial Solar (EPV/ESP) division. Routine activities will include the following:
Inventory
· reconcile monthly perpetual inventory records to corresponding balance sheet accounts
· book all regular and adjusting monthly journal entries for EPV inventory
· identify inventory system nonconformance and develop controls to minimize issues
· coordinate and supervise periodic cycle counts
· coordinate annual physical inventory
· coordinate semi-annual standard cost roll
· coordinate all updates to the standard cost model with the engineering, accounting & configuration management groups
· prepare & book quarterly inventory reserve
· review monthly purchase price variances with purchasing and A/P departments
· review and understand EPV’s discrete and process manufacturing bill of materials (BOM)
· review of EPV BOMs (bill of materials) and routes for discrepancies and/or issues on all standard cost products
· work closely with product planners to ensure all open work orders are valid and costed appropriately
· monitor all work order variances for unusual issues / LCM issues
· perform monthly analysis on inventory & reserve balances
· complete monthly metrics pages on inventory, reserves, and physical inventory
Fixed Assets
· perform monthly analysis on Assets in Progress (AIP) accounts
· work with operations personnel to place AIP into service on a timely basis
· transfer all assets-in-service into EPV’s Fixed Asset Accounting System (FAS) and book monthly depreciation expense according to company policy
· complete monthly metrics pages on EPV fixed assets, capital expenditures & associated budgets
· work with EPV Supply Chain Management to ensure that all capital expenditures are approved and budgeted prior to expenditure
· prepare depreciation expense analysis for semi-annual budgeting exercises
General Duties:
· support both internal and external financial analyses requests and preparation of special reports
