Description:
POSITION PURPOSE Study and receive training in vascular developmental biology and endothelial cell biology. The work will utilize zebrafish and mouse genetic models to investigate signaling systems essential for formation of the developing vasculature. Major interests also include studying molecules and mechanisms that promote migratory behavior of endothelial cells. The candidate will implement new technologies and organize the laboratory equipment and staff resources to achieve research objectives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Investigate the role of endothelial cells in zebrafish and mouse vascular development using cell biological, embryological and molecular methods. 2. Prepare materials for publications, fellowships and grants. 3. Supervise, train and organize work of rotation students and other lab personnel; oversee use of some laboratory equipment. MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis Education: PhD in Biology (Developmental or Cell Biology preferred) Experience: No experience required. Certifications/Licenses: None KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Applicants must have motivation, communications skills, knowledge of scientific approach and methodologies, and ability to design and coordinate scientific research projects. Familiarity with molecular methods and knowledge of current technological trends including microscopy is also required. Experience with primary tissue culture techniques and previous laboratory experience including sound scientific practice in research, methodology development and accurate laboratory techniques are strongly preferred. Previous laboratory experience with embryological and histological methods are also desirable.
