Description:
GENERAL FUNCTION: Under general supervision, collects and documents delinquent accounts in accordance with departmental, investor, and legal guidelines, ensuring attainment of the company goals. Collects on multiple products utilizing multiple systems. May collect on early, mid or late stages (up to charge-off and Agency liaison) of delinquency to include loss mitigation, foreclosures, repossessions, pre charge-off, charge-off, recovery, bankruptcy and Agency liaison collections. Position has direct impact to bank losses in excess of 100MM per year. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: * Contact delinquent customers to obtain payment commitments. * Complete the update of customers' demographical data (address, telephone numbers, place of employment). * Assess, interpret, identify indicators and respond accordingly to data gathered from customers and other resources that may identify potential workout loans, re-ages, etc. * Identify, evaluate, and resolve reasons for delinquency. * Conduct research, ordering payment copies, credit bureau reports, statements, and credit applications as necessary, to support the collection efforts. * Record all collection efforts via the collection system ensuring that all accounts are called and noted accurately. * Processes tickets for physical check payments, payoffs, re-ages and other demographic information. * Execute a plan to collect early delinquent accounts. * Access statements, applications, and third-party vendor services to locate or perfect customer contact and make some strategic actionable decisions. * Escalate calls and/or problem accounts to supervisor, repossession, legal or collection agencies as appropriate. * Reviews daily reports to identify job performance and tasks. * Ensures completion of all projects and/or additional assignments assigned to them. * Review, negotiate and recommend action on requests for proposed foreclosure or repossession alternatives within the timeframes established by management. * Recommend additional actions with Management assistance on delinquent accounts. * Conduct research and access credit bureau information, files, bank statements, applications and third-party vendor services to assist in interpreting data, perfect customer contact and make strategic actionable decisions. * Execute a plan to collect delinquent accounts. * Acts as a liaison between the bank and its Affiliates, ensuring that policy and procedures are followed. * Skip trace accounts when applicable. * Successfully completes assigned projects using business-related applications such as Amtrak, Mobius, Crystal Reporting and/or Excel. * Validate and facilitate application of SCRA in accordance with Federal policy. * Interact with consumer's attorney/counsel representation related to delinquency resolution of collection accounts. * Mentor less experienced collectors. Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS REQUIRED: * High school diploma or equivalent. * Minimum two-years collections experience. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Strong sales focus - ability to effectively negotiate. * Strong attention to detail. * Good mathematical and analytical skills. * Strong knowledge of the keyboard, personal computers, and various software packages. * Working knowledge of collection processes and procedures. * Skip tracing abilities.
