Executive Compensation Consulting Senior Associate
Grant Thornton's Compensation and Benefits Consulting group draws upon the resources of the best and brightest professionals in the industry. This specialty line serves as the technical support center for federal, state and local, and international tax advice for our tax professionals and clients. Our specialists are dedicated to delivering value-added, client-focused services that address all of our clients' human resource business needs.
POSITION SUMMARY
Grant Thornton LLP is seeking an Executive Compensation Consulting Senior Associate for our CBC practice in Chicago. This position will focus on assisting firm partners and clients with a variety of executive compensation related issues, including those arising from recent legislation and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide executive compensation consulting services to clients, including cash and equity based incentive plan design, plan implementation and benchmarking of total compensation
-Work on projects that involve key regulatory areas impacting executive pay, including accounting, tax and proxy statement disclosure
-Provide project management including day-to-day responsibility for client deliverables, report preparation, directing staff in completing analysis, and presenting findings
-Address, research, and consult on complex technical issues specific to executive compensation
-Provide timely and creative responses to technical inquiries from firm partners and managers, and clients
-Serve as a technical and business advisor to clients
-Facilitate and participate in firm-wide training and communications relating to compensation consulting matters
-Provide thought leadership externally and within the firm
-Work closely with partners, managers, and staff in an integrated approach to client service and new business development
-Coach and motivate others to achieve goals for performance and professional development
-Attend professional development and training seminars on a regular basis.
-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in business or finance. MBA highly desirable, professional certification required
-Minimum of four years of consulting experience in executive compensation; including design of short and long-term incentive plans and understanding tax and accounting implications e.g. 280G, FAS123R, 83
- Strong oral and written communication skills
-Experience with M&A due diligence
-Superior analytical and technical skills; detail oriented fast learner exhibiting critical thinking
-Merger integration work and equity administration process review a plus
-Lead project team in preparing client deliverables/reports
-Business development experience and sales support efforts including proposal writing
-Strong mentoring and development skills
-Ability to manage competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment
-Computer expertise including knowledge of electronic survey and proxy databases, stock option software and technology
-Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel as necessary
