Description:

Orbital Engineering,® Inc., a nationally recognized multi-discipline engineering company with offices in Pittsburgh, PA, Philadelphia, PA, Chicago, IL, Detroit, MI, and Toledo, OH, is expanding its facilities services/asset management workforce and is recruiting for an experienced Surveyor position at our Pittsburgh, PA District Office.  Typical projects include: boundary, construction, engineering, GPS, topographic, and other surveys for all phases of industrial development and public works projects. 
 
The successful candidate will research legal records, look for evidence of previous boundaries, and analyze data to determine the location of boundary lines, prepare cost estimates for survey work including estimates of personnel needs, collect data in the field, make calculations, help with computer aided drafting; write legal descriptions.
 
The Surveyor will perform active, sometimes strenuous, field work in all weather conditions and in heavy industrial environments.  It will require standing for long periods, walking and climbing with heavy packs of instruments and other high-tech equipment.  
 
Orbital is seeking individuals with 5 to 10 years of experience in a heavy industrial environment.  Candidates must be willing to travel for short to medium terms as assignments require, usually less than one month at a time, though longer term assignments are possible.  Minimal off-shift work is also required, due to customer production requirements.  A current driver’s license is a strict requirement.
