Senior Underwriting Manager

Job Purpose: Support the Manager of the R&W Review and Reporting Function by managing the underwriting staff and the development of the processes required to assure a quality standard of training, reviewing and reporting of R&W activity. Act as liaison with the collateral review function.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manage the investor repurchase demands, mortgage insurance rescissions and any other problem-loan demands/requests from investor/insurance companies and internal departments, and ensure resolution/responses are made within the required timeframe
2. Manage the Risk Analysts /Underwriters. Assign and monitor workflow.Review Analysts’ audit findings and recommended resolutions in order to ensure thoroughness and accuracy
3. Ensure that the reviews and reporting processes are in compliance with management and legal requirements
4. Interact with the Project Manager to develop necessary technical support, systems and software to assure the soundness and analytical functionality of the review process mapping
5. Assist with the development and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures
6. Represent the company as an expert witness in risk analysis policies in legal actions and trials. Provide oral depositions and trial testimony when needed
7. Manage the daily underwriting operations, staff and training necessary to ensure quality standardsand professionalism
8. Re-underwrite and assess effected loan files to determine conformity with repurchase demand
9. Communicate reasonable rebuttals and resolutions that will assist with the proper management of loss severity
10. Assist with the development of work-out resolutions
11. Support management with the proficient ability to provide meaningful data analysis on demand
12. Other duties as assigned by Management

Requirements:
Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
Basic:

· Bachelors degree
· 3 years mortgage underwriting experience and extensive knowledge of GSE
· 3 years People / team management experience

Preferred:
· 5+ years mortgage underwriting experience and extensive knowledge of GSE, Investor and Mortgage Insurer guidelines, processes and requirements
· 5 years People / team management experience
· Excellent analytical, underwriting, writing, organizational, communication and presentation skills. Ability to interact with other departments and Sr. Management to accomplish objectives. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to meet stringent deadlines.
· Strong detail orientation
