PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Transition Assistance Management Program Work and Family Life Consultants (TAMP WFLs) provide education, information and referral, classroom training, one-on-one consultation, workshops and to facilitate lifespan career planning and to assist separating and retiring military personnel and their families to transitions to civilian life. TAMP WFL's act in support of the education and training component of Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP) programs and services. Coordinate, publicize and host TAP workshops in coordination with Department of Labor. Provide individualized counseling and assistance to all transitioning military and family members. Provide assistance to customers utilizing the FFSP Career Resource Center. Coordinate delivery of workshops and individualized assistance on VA Benefits, to include Disability Vocational Rehabilitation and employment for personnel with service connected disabilities. Serve as needed, on the TAAC/TRACC. Organize, promote and/or support area job fairs and employment expositions with local, state and/or Federal agencies. Provide CONSEP seminars to first-term and mid-career personnel in coordination with Command Career Counselors. Provide a wide range of programs and services to the FFSP. Demonstrate knowledge in all FFSP program areas with specialized knowledge in one or two program areas. Conduct training classes for sailors and family members. Provide specific information on resources available. Work individually with clients where appropriate.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
Associate's degree in education, social/behavioral sciences OR
Two years' experience providing education and/or work/family life consultation
Experience making presentations and facilitating training for large and small groups
Other Skills:
FFSC has fully integrated technology into its service delivery model and all educators are expected to have or develop skill in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Power Point.
Demonstrated ability to use software to prepare management reports and provide information
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of the formulation and execution of needs assessment tools
Knowledge of the military and the challenges of the military life style
Skilled in providing individual education as well as group facilitation
Knowledge of the tenets of adult education and the development of training curricula based on the adult learning model
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to use verbal and written communication skills effectively
Ability to conduct program evaluations and use that evaluation to improve program effectiveness
