Description:
Position Description: Data Architecture at the CME Group is a key element of the Enterprise Architecture function and is primarily focused on application, database, system, and infrastructure information and data interaction. The function ensures the alignment of CME Group’s information management technology with the company’s corporate goals and objectives. The data architect sets enterprise data standards, best practices and governance processes to ensure that data assets are efficient and architecturally sound to support business in achieving its strategic goals The selected candidate will focus on the identification, definition, and creation of architecture artifacts associated with reference data architectures, information as a service, BI, data warehouse, data standards, data governance, and strategic data storage planning and management. The selected candidate will also be responsible for strategically designing, developing and implementing architecture models for enterprise-level applications and systems. The models should be architected at the conceptual layer (planner’s view), logical layer (designer’s view), business layer (owner’s view), and application layer (builder’s view). Qualifications: Required: • Proven ability to understand the businesses process at an Enterprise level and can make recommendations on technology to achieve business goals. • Can focus on long term vision that meets the needs of the enterprise. Demonstrates the ability to align short-term steps that near-term tactical value and align with the longer-term vision for the enterprise. • Strong leadership skills with a strong interest in and understanding of the business, its strategic direction, dysfunctions, strengths, etc. Ability to make significant recommendations for approval • Strong ability to facilitate decisions through the use of working groups and committees. • Proven ability to effectively utilize presentation tools such as PowerPoint, Visio and Whiteboards to convey a message, develop consensus, seek approval or explain concepts. • Demonstrates proven expertise in o data modeling o master data management (customer and product) o data and storage capacity and efficiency management o enterprise reporting o business intelligence o data warehousing o data quality management • Can articulate key concepts of Zachman, Togaf and other Enterprise Architecture Frameworks • Proven expertise in logical architecture designs based on functional requirements for small, medium and large projects • Demonstrated proven ability to evaluate vendors and packaged solutions to solve business needs. Makes recommendations on vendors and packaged solutions • Strong capability to evaluate technology utilized by potential industry partners, acquisition targets and potential customers independently and in partnership with other subject matter experts. • Bachelor’s degree. Computer Science or related Engineering degree preferred. Preferred: • Strong familiarity with the technology and business functions of the Futures, Options, OTC and other financial markets. • Strong familiarity with the technology and business functions of the Electronic Trading business. • Strong familiarity with the technology and business functions of the Clearing business. • Strong familiarity with the technology and business functions of the Regulatory business. • Strong ability to negotiate amongst constituents and to find win-win solutions to difficult architectural decisions and the ability to peacefully resolving difficult situations with decisions that benefit the organization. • Strong familiarity with o Oracle Technology o Erwin, Informatica, Business Objects, GoldenGate o BPMS (Business Process Management Suite) o SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) • Masters Degree in Computer Science or related Engineering degree preferred.
