SUMMARY
Provides guidance and direction to departmental maintenance employees (technicians and/or mechanics) including:
Safety
Ensures that finished product is manufactured in a safe environment
Ensures that finished product is free of risk from contamination caused bydefective equipment
Quality
Ensures that finished product complies with all quality specifications and expectations
Productivity
Ensures that all departmental equipment performs at optimum operating efficiencies by:
Coordinating Preventive Maintenance efforts
Developing and implementing effective Preventive Maintenance tasks
Effective troubleshooting of unscheduled downtime for prompt return to operation
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
15% Technician/Mechanic skills evaluation and development
15% Preventive Maintenance Program development and compliance
15% Planning and scheduling of Maintenance efforts in accordance with production demands
15% Technical support – troubleshooting unscheduled interruptions in production
10% Process improvements
10% Identify/Order repair parts
10% Budget development and compliance
10% Employee relations issues
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must be able to demonstrate basic mechanical and electrical aptitude. Must have excellent leadership skills and the ability to train and motivate employees. Must have 3-5 year experience as a maintenance supervisor and 1-3 years of experience within the food industry.
SKILLS
Must have good verbal, written, and communication skills, bilingual preferred. Must be able to complete and pass a skill assessment.

Must be able to hear/listen effectively

Must be able to move within office and manufacturing areas as required by job responsibilities: standing/walking for a minimum of 8 hours.

Planning
Prioritizes and schedules own work and work of direct reports.
Develops long-range objectives and plans to meet them; i.e. training, projects, PM issues.
Coordinating/Supervising
Checks the quality, quantity and timeliness of work of direct reports.
Interviews candidates for technician and mechanic openings and recommends hiring decisions.
Communicates and enforces compliance with company policies, programs and procedures to others
Maintains discipline and recommends corrective actions. Enforces all company rules and regulations using progressive discipline.
Controlling
Helps develop unit procedures; i.e. PM, startup, changeover, etc.
Evaluates performance of non-union assigned personnel; evaluates skills of union and non-union assigned personnel
Recommends changes in pay levels. Recommends promotions, demotions, and terminations.

This job is essential to maintaining department equipment which effects total production output.
