NORESCO’s Operations and Maintenace Group is responsible for all of the contractural maintenance on equipment once an energy upgrade has been completed and installed on projects for Colleges, Universities, K-12 Schools, Hospitals as well as State, Local and Federal Government buildings.
We have an immediate need for a Lead Boiler Operator to work on site at Cheyney College in Philadelphia, PA as well as other areas where assigned.
As a Lead Boiler Operator in our Operations and Maintenance Group, you will be representing NORESCO at customer sites. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to possess professionalism, trustworthiness, leadership skills, good listening and communication skills as well as the ability to respond promptly to emergency repair situations. You’ll work independently and direct subcontractors and other NORESCO staff as needed.
In order to be successful in the role of Lead Boiler Operator, you’ll have the ability to perform the following tasks:
●Serve as a team lead in supervising the work of more junior workers engaged in the service, adjustment, repair and maintenance of small low pressure steam and hot water boilers.
●Lay out work for self and other team members.
●Instruct new employees in the proper practices and procedures of the trade.
●Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine location, size, type of boiler, etc.
●Inspect commercial boilers to determine operating efficiency. Adjust, repair or overhaul safety components such as operating limit, high limit, UV scanner, low water cut off and pressure relief valve.
●Service, adjust and place commercial boilers in operation by trouble shooting and calibrating using digital combustion analyzer as well as checking gauges and instruments to maintain proper operating specifications and to establish preventative maintenance schedules and standards.
●Be on call 24/7. ( For customers that have a 24/7 operation).
●Do boiler efficiency tests and state mandated safety checks.
●Practice safe work habits involving yourself and others.
●Provide your own basic hand tools and test equipment.
●Provide your own transportation.
●Work weekends and evenings if necessary.
●Perform other duties as required.
In order to be considered for a Lead Boiler Operator at NORESCO, you will need to meet the following minimum qualifications:
●High School diploma or equivalent.
●Valid Driver’s License and proof of good driving record.
●5 years experience installing and/or maintaining commercial heating boilers.
●1st grade engineer license or HVAC journeyman license.
●Proficient in MS Windows applications.
●Familiarity with procedures and regulations pertaining to hazardous materials relating to boilers.
●Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
●Must be able to climb a 40’ vertical ladder and work from scaffolding.
