Assignment Capsule
As an underwriting consultant you will: develop and maintain an extensive understanding of complex underwriting data and trends while attaining financial and marketing objectives. You will provide technical guidance, analyze data and make pricing recommendations.
Review customer and partner applications, gather data and assess risk, providing accurate case documentation and sound decisions
Evaluate financial risk in conformance with underwriting policies, procedures and methodologies, keeping in mind overall profit objectives
Develop and maintain an understanding of state-specific requirements and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations
Partner with customers, sales offices and agents to address demonstrated customer needs

Role Essentials
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Mathematics or a health-related field
Prior underwriting experience, or comparable in-depth knowledge and understanding of underwriting practices
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel
Role Desirables
Previous experience in claims and/or provider network operations
Experience using MetaVance
Reporting Relationships
You will report to an Underwriting Manager. This area is under the leadership of the SVP and Chief Operating Officer.
