Principal Responsibilities:
Assist the CYP Coordinator to develop and implement assessment, communication and outreach processes that meet the needs of geographically dispersed military children who reside throughout the state of California.
Advocate the needs of military children & youth by articulating the need for and developing appropriate support systems for military children and youth
Assist Coordinator in establishing communication and building partnerships with the local school systems to strengthen support for military families and military families dealing with deployment
Assist in coordinating with school staff, teacher and guidance counseling to ensure they understand the unique needs of military
Organize special projects related to deployed units and school awareness
Assist the coordinator to develop and implement assessment, communication and outreach processes that meet the needs of geographically dispersed military children who reside throughout the state of California
Participate in State, installation and community councils, committees and boards related to youth education
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Primary or Secondary Education or related academic field (e.g., early childhood development; child and youth studies)
Three years' experience facilitating educational and community partnerships.
Military lifestyle experience is strongly preferred.
Knowledge working with the community in quality of life related areas.
Experience facilitating focus groups and working groups.
Demonstrated professional presentations skills and understanding of adult learning.
Ability to form relationships/partnerships.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Training
Contractual training will include completion of the following sessions: Crisis Calls, Equipment Safety, Security Requirements, Regulatory Guidance, and Contractor Identification Requirements.
