Lab Assistant, Accessioning
Summary:
We have a full time (Tuesday-Saturday) position open in the Accessioning department for a lab assistant within our clinical laboratory that will be responsible for unpacking specimens and reviewing patient samples and test requisitions, along with other laboratory duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Note: other duties may be assigned
Responsible for unpacking specimens and reviewing patient samples and test requisitions
Accurate and timely accessioning of patient and testing information into our laboratory information system (LIS) and initial troubleshooting of problems.
Technical duties include preparation and staining of smears from blood and bone marrow specimens.
Qualifications:
Requires good written and verbal communication skills, basic math skills, and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Attention to detail and excellent typing skills required for computer data entry.
Must be able to work Tuesday-Saturday, from 9:00 am – 5:30 pm.
Education and Experience:
At least one year post high school training in health related field required.
Knowledge of medical terminology and 1+ years laboratory experience preferred.
