For more than 65 years, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta has been in the forefront of youth development, working with young people from disadvantaged economic, social, and family circumstances. We are dedicated to ensuring that our community’s disadvantaged youngsters have greater access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives and shape their futures as productive citizens.
From games and athletics to drug prevention workshops, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta offers young people a range of fun and productive activities. Clubs are open each day after school from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. A trained, caring staff implements proven youth development strategies and creates a stable, supportive environment for children and teens ages six to 18. Specially designed programs concentrate on developing job readiness, study skills, leadership, self-esteem, good health and social responsibility among Boys & Girls Club members.
Job Functions & Responsibilities
Communicates, implements, and enforces organization’s operational policies and procedures. Evaluates opportunities to improve club operations; designs and communicates strategies to implement improvements. Plans for and ensures environment, programs, and services prepare youth for success. Ensures programs delivered result in positive outcomes.
Seeks optimum use of club facilities, staff and resources to fulfill organization’s mission and strategic plan. Analyzes club’s needs, resources, and community demographics to identify and implement actions to optimize club use by disadvantaged and at-risk community.
Analyzes and reviews club’s membership levels and average daily attendance and develops and implements strategies to increase membership. Plans and takes actions required to obtain community and volunteer support.
Ensures Human Resources policies and procedures are communicated and followed, including those on recruiting, compensation , benefits, and employee relations.
Handles crisis situations and takes action to resolve conflicts, disputes and/or concerns of staff, club members, volunteers, and/or parents. Ensures designated and daily year-round and summer programs are delivered, that programs meet stated objectives, member needs and interests, and are organized and engaging; monitors programs and collaborates with staff to plan and implement improvements.
Plans and implements procedures to measure and report outcomes.Communicates and enforces organization’s policies, procedures and standards with regard upkeep, usage and maintenance of buildings, grounds, vehicles, equipment and pools; monitors same for compliance.
Communicates policies on and approves requests by outside organizations to use club, equipment and grounds when club is closed and ensure professional BGCMA staff is secure facility and monitor use.
Educational Qualifications & Skills
Must be able to fluently speak, read and write in Spanish.
Bachelor’s degree from a four year accredited college or university in a field related to guidance, recreation, education, and/or social science. Education and experience in the fields of counseling and guidance, personnel management, business administration, program development, public relations are preferred.
A minimum of two years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization managing full-time/part-time staff, and planning activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain a facility, control and manage a budget. Ability to develop community support of club operations and programs. Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills. P.C. literate in MS Office, graphics programs, photo-shop, illustrator and publisher.
