Title: Senior Software Engineer


Status: Regular Full-Time


My client creates educational software that accelerates learning by improving the processing efficiency of the brain. Their products based on more than 30 years of neuroscience and cognitive research.
Recently, they launched a new SaaS driven model with a family of interactive, online learning programs that help children increase their brain power through fun and engaging exercises.



Essential Functions:

Writes well-documented, extensible software code that is easy to maintain, and that adheres to generally accepted programming standards and OOP practices.
Codes and maintains communication layer between large Flash/Flex applications and Java back end.
Codes and maintains Flash/Flex applications.
Writes unit tests to ensure quality of code and integrity of builds.
Works with other members of cross-functional SCRUM team to define and achieve project goals within designated timeframe.
Interacts with Quality Assurance engineers to conscientiously identify and fix software bugs in a timely manner.
Evaluates new developments in technology and assists in implementation of those technologies within the multimedia engineering department.
Identifies and/or creates tools and methodologies to improve efficiency, performance, and quality of code
Produces and maintains technical documentation relevant to assigned programming tasks
Provides regular status reports on progress to Scrum Master and Manager, Multimedia Engineering, and provides notification of any changes / impediments that impact project schedules

Requirements:
6+ years programming experience (with at least 2+ years of solid Flash/Flex development experience and 2+ years of Java development).
Skilled and experienced with ActionScript 3.0. Must demonstrate proficiency in developing object-oriented software.
Demonstrated ability to develop web services, and create web content using Java application frameworks and Flash/Flex.
Experience using Flex RPC libraries.
Experience with Test Driven Development and unit testing frameworks (ideally FlexUnit for Flash/Flex and JUnit for Java).
Experience with multimedia programming, including Audio, Video and Animation integration in Flash projects
Experience managing web deployments with SCM (Perforce) and building/deploying projects with Ant and/or Maven..
B.A. Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

Additional Desirable Skills:
Experience with the Agile Software Development Process
BlazeDS and/or LiveCycleDataServices experience.
Experience with JSP/JavaScript.
Experience with Flex modules.
Programming experience with Windows, and Mac OS (OS X and Vista).
Proficiency with XML/XSL as it pertains to Flash.
