Responsibilities
The medical strategist’s role is to work across all CommonHealth divisions as an in-house consultant for both new business pitches and existing business.
For new business pitches, at a minimum, the medical strategist will be responsible for identifying key opinion leaders, arranging for teleconferences with them, developing a discussion guide for those calls, talking notes, summarizing the notes, and highlighting key points and their importance to the presentation.
He/she will work with the pitch team to use these key points as the basis for developing the overall strategy and positioning.
If this is an agency of record pitch, the medical strategist will often be asked to provide the creative team with an overview of the therapeutic category and the product to help them develop the appropriate creative concepts.
He/she will frequently be a key member of the client presentation team and, as such, must have excellent presentation skills.
A medical strategist is usually assigned to each existing piece of business to participate, depending on circumstances, in internal strategic meetings and often client meetings as well.
He/she may be called upon to help develop or validate content.
It is key for the medical strategist to familiarize him/herself with the various CommonHealth divisions, the types of business they do and the people that work there.
The medical strategist will work with many different people at CommonHealth and must be able to quickly and effectively become a integral part of many teams at once.
Knowledge and Skills
MD
Ideally internal medicine background with broad range of experience, especially in oncology and neuropsychiatry
Ideally, agency, med-ed and/or pharma industry experience
