Instructional Designer in Joint Advanced Distributed Learning (JADL). The Instructional Designer will support the Joint Education and Training sub-division, Education Branch, HQ SACT. This position shall be responsible for the development of pre-deployment training and for the development of learning modules from initial requirements and design to providing an “online” supported course.
 
Overview of Duties for the Instructional Designer
The Instructional Designer will provide support to execute the following tasks:
·        Support the ADL Section by coordinating with Subject Matter Experts (SME) among NATO organizations, commands and NATO and Partner nations, supporting the development of the necessary content for the online courses under development.
·        Instructional Designer will have the responsibility for the collection, analysis and achieving all contents received from SMEs in a standard storyboard template pertaining to ADL courses under development.
·        Assists in the operation and maintenance of an open source, standards based Learning Management System. Lifecycle support includes: concept development, systems specifications, systems analysis, baseline management, architectural development, test specifications, product evaluations, feasibility analysis, and transition planning.
·        Ensures compliance with NATO standards and requirements (e.g., SCORM 2004) and security policies and procedures.
·        Serves as a member of the HQ SACT JADL Section ADL team and will contribute to further the development efforts of the NATO ADL capability.
·        Professional level technical work includes recommendations for new or improved processes, applications, etc.
·        Provide technical support to course providers upon request.
·        Lead specialized tests, studies, and analysis.
o       Interfaces with the customer to determine needs and communicate progress.
·        Conducts training on the products/systems.
·        Consults with customers and attends planning meetings, conferences and workshops.
·        Reviews progress with the Section Head on JADL & Simulation on complex projects within budget and schedule.
·        Administers databases by establishing policies and procedures pertaining to its management, security, maintenance and utilization. Determines file organization, indexing method, and security procedures for specific user applications.
·        Where required will carry out Training Needs Analysis and establish Target Audiences for any JADL Training created.
 
Minimum Qualifications and Experience for the Instruction Designer
The Instructional Designer shall demonstrate the following minimum experience, qualifications and capabilities:
(a)    MS/MA Degree in Education and Training Development or related programs which may include learning theory, educational psychology, instructional design and education evaluation
(b)   Must hold one of the following certifications: Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) or Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) or national equivalent
