JOB SUMMARY:
The Account Manager is accountable to the General Manager for: Performance Reviews for the assigned customer base, the quality of service provided to the assigned customer base (Service Standards); penetration of the assigned customer base with the full range of G&K products / services; penetration of the assigned customer base with strong relationships with all decision makers and influencers; resolution of all customer complaints in a timely and responsive manner; identification of changes in customer and market requirements; opportunities and threats to G&K in the market.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Business Management Functions – External:
Sell additional products / services to all existing assigned accounts.
Educate assigned customers on the features and benefits of G&K’s products and services (e.g. auto-replace, true choice, etc).
Ensure all customers receive high quality service in accordance to Service Standards.
Build and maintain a personal / professional relationship with employees, key contacts, decision influencers, and decision-makers within assigned accounts.
Identify opportunities to grow and penetrate existing accounts.
Develop a proactive account retention strategy.
Negotiate effectively within limits to achieve profit margins.
Ensure all account-related paperwork is properly recorded and maintained.
Gain referrals from assigned customer base.
Create and maintain a positive image for G&K to its customers.
- Business Management Functions – Internal:
Assist Service Manager in developing a strategic business plan.
Conduct performance reviews on all assigned accounts.
Develop a 12 / 9 / 6 month account renewal plan (Service Agreement renewals).
Manage the new account installation process.
Hold self and others accountable to respond quickly to customer calls and concerns (Right Back Response).
Partner with internal departments (plant, office, service) to ensure consistent fulfillment of our “Service Guarantee”.
Communicate with service team and others regarding customer issues and action(s) needed to resolve (e.g., Opportunity Board Mtg., Area for Improvement, etc.).
Assist in credit collections when necessary, and attend weekly A/R meetings.
Achieve annual revenue growth, profit margin and product mix targets on assigned accounts.
- Direct Output:
Conduct quality and thorough Performance Reviews for assigned accounts.
Provide an on-going assessment of competitor capabilities.
Evaluate the quality of customer service provided to assigned customer base.
Achieve sales, growth, retention, penetration, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Finance or related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 1-3 years related experience, with demonstrated success in providing excellent customer service, penetration and growth of accounts, customer retention and account profitability
- Experience in a route-based sales/service industry preferred
