Position Summary
The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing dynamic education programs using the most current instructional design principles along with web-based education and multi-media techniques to create education programs that offer excellent ROI, and inspire all Lawson Products personnel to exceed customer satisfaction and sales objectives.
Position Responsibilities
1. Identifies and plans creative instructional design strategies and objectives based on analyses of the tasks, learners and subject matter.
2. Conducts analyses of the learner’s performance expectations and the company’s objectives and determine the most effective manner to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities related to the expectations of both the learner and the corporation.
3. Develops the content of education programs taking into consideration the most effective techniques including web-based education, multi-media presentations and Computer Based Education to ensure the objectives of the education program are met.
4. Develops evaluation strategies to measure the performance of the education program including ROI.
5. Develops strategies to effectively communicate, build support for and ensure the continued application of education content.
6. Assists vendors, suppliers and subject matter experts to ensure conformance with instructional design objectives.
7. Designs and develops related instructional design material such as workbooks, manuals and instructor guides.
8. Coordinates efforts with Corporate and Field education personnel to ensure that education programs are presented consistently and in the most effective manner.
9. Determines tasks and resources associated with projects by identifying equipment, materials ,people and processes needed and coordinating with internal and external business partners.
10. Establishes courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
11. Monitors the results of delegations, assignments, or projects and considers the skills, knowledge, and experience of the assigned individual in conjunction with the characteristics of the assignment or project.

Quantitative Dimensions
Responsible for providing quality and timely education materials. Accountable for managing projects within budget constraints for resources. Provides guidance to Sales Education team members and Subject Matter Experts.
Position Requirements
· Minimum 4 year college degree required
· 3 plus years experience developing education programs utilizing the most current instructional design techniques
· Must have experience with web-based, computer-based and other multi-media education techniques
· Proven record of developing creative-high impact education programs with excellent ROI preferred
· Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
· Education certification preferred
