The Organization The Metering group is charged with growing ADI's dominant electricity metering position and addressing the needs of the Smart Grid roll-out globally. There are more than 250 million meters worldwide that have been deployed with ADI's Metering ICs. The group is seeking to extend its reach beyond the metrology function to include the newly emerging power line communications (PLC) function. Field trials of the group's technology are in process and have demonstrated superior performance to competitive solutions. The PLC team's objective is to capitalize upon this new technology to create a new profitable revenue stream for the group that supplements the existing metrology business. The Position A vacancy exists for a Communications System Design Engineer on the PLC development team. This person will be required to: Be the system architect & technical lead for PLC design with a focus on mixed-signal system design. Tradeoffs between analog & digital implementations in order to balance system throughput, communications robustness, cost & TTM will need to be considered.
Design experiments to analyze communication performance issues & optimize system performance.
Implement the communication signal processing (Filtering, modulation/De-Modulation, etc.) required by the system design.
