POSITION: Dispatcher FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt DEPARTMENT: Transportation REPORTS TO: Steve Buer GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Dispatcher will follow direction from the transportation manager on a daily basis to meet departmental requirements. QUALIFICATIONS: • Employee must pass a background check, pre-employment post offer drug screen and lifting test • Maintain a valid commercial drivers license class A or B if in possession of one, class C ok • Must be able to communicate well with others. • Ability to handle multiple tasks • Pass the minimum hiring requirements • Excellent knowledge of Central Valley • Proficient in basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) • Education or experience to fulfill the essential functions and responsibilities with a minimum of 1 year transportation and/or dispatching experience or equivalent experience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBLITIES: • Route packet prep • Route assembly • Clerical (driver logs, truck logs, volume sheet, outside freight, driver incentive, key indicator) • Backhaul dispatch • Dark drop key check in/out • Cover routes on emergency basis • Maintain valid CDL • Receive calls reporting when customers didn’t receive their entire order (shorts) • Handle reporting of accidents and injuries immediately and/or any damage to the equipment or person. • Handle all customer complaints professionally. • 24/7 hour per day – point person for emergency transportation issues when transportation manager is on vacation • Other duties as assigned WORK ENVIRONMENT: • Sun (10:00am-6:30pm), Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri (9:00am-6:30pm). • Work overtime as required by department manager.
