Primary duties involve oversight of workers' compensation, Defense Base Act, property, general liability, and auto claims.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position• Maintain a professional working relationship with other Chenega employees, subsidiaries, brokers, insurance companies, third party administrators and other stakeholders• Facilitate procedures for claims reporting at the subsidiary level; to include working with the Risk and Safety Manager and subsidiary management to identify contacts and preparing claims input procedures, instructions and providing training• Become familiar with the Corporation's insurance policies and the terms/conditions, endorsements, limits, deductibles, and exclusions of those policies• Develop and conduct managerial-level training on claims management for subsidiary operations and finance personnel• Work with insurance company representatives or third party vendors, as appropriate, to establish access to the online claims system for subsidiary personnel and act as system administrator to manage rights and access• Work with the insurance company or third party claims adjusters to identify preferred medical facilities in each region where the Corporation has significant personnel resources assigned and communicate with subsidiary local management regarding the preferred medical facilities identified• Where appropriate, communicate with preferred medical providers regarding their selection and the Corporation's goals regarding treatment and care of injured employees.• Establish claim files. Ensure that incident / accident information is accurate and that all contact logs are kept up to date. Conduct monthly audits to identify claims with no site or location code, no cause code and/or no body part code. Edit claims to correct errors in entry and incomplete data fields. Keep track of errors identified and monitor the need for additional training for location personnel.• Initiate claims management activities, to include making written and verbal contact with the injured employee, the claims adjustors, location managers / supervisors, ensuring follow up procedures are being followed, determining the availability of alternative work assignments and the need for nurse case managers, rehab, surveillance, subrogation, etc.• Verify accuracy of accident / incident report details, assist in determining potential liability, acquire repair estimates and initiate recovery where appropriate.• Prepare and distribute risk management reports to include: Monthly Loss Incident Report, Monthly Workers' Compensation Cost Allocation Report, Monthly Auto Liability/PD Loss Incident Report, etc• Maintain risk management records to include claims files, incident reports and etc. • Communicate and coordinate necessary information with the Human Resources Department to ensure that FMLA, ADA and other leave and benefit issues are addressed.• Assists with collecting, analyzing and preparing risk, safety, loss and health information and other statistical data necessary for planning and decision-making purposes • Prepare check requests and allocation spreadsheets to include insurance costs and applicable deductible payments• Monitor claims for potential third party recovery / subrogation and coordinate recovery with insurance company or perform recovery efforts internally• Stay current on state regulations and issues, industry activity and trends• Cross-train and be able to perform the core functions the Risk Management Specialist position• Other duties as assigned may include, but are not limited to:o Conduct investigations of accidents and injuries and prepare material and evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.o Identify, select, procure and evaluate training resources including audio, video and printed materialso Assist with the development and administration of the substance abuse and office ergonomic programo Participating in periodic meetings with brokers and insurance carriers, as appropriate. o Assisting in the scheduling, planning and coordination of meetings, training sessions and other eventso Prepare / deliver presentations on topics related to claims managementSupervisionNoneMinimum QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Education and/or ExperienceFour year degree required from accredited college. Eight plus years of experience in performing a variety of complex administrative, technical, and managerial duties, working with sensitive and highly confidential records and in managing and/or adjusting workers compensation, general liabilty, property and auto claims. Applicant must be a licensed workers' compensation claims adjuster in Alaska or be willing to pursue training and seek certification or licensing as a claims adjuster.Computer SkillsProficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Clearance: Background CheckMinimum Requirements: • Strong organizational, planning, and scheduling skills• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills• Ability to exercise sound judgment, tact, discretion and initiative• Ability to work well in both a team environment and independently• Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.• Occasional travel may be requiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Advanced experience in workers compensation, general liability, property and auto claims• Working knowledge of the insurance industry, risk mangement and or loss control principles and practices• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles• Familiarity with Cost Point and Impromptu• Some travel is requiredChenega Corporation is an EOE.
