Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the effort to continuously enhance Disney Cruise Line's Safety Management System through training, audits, monitoring industry trends, staying abreast of regulatory changes, and from feedback obtained from ship and shore personnel. Actively perform oversight of all shipboard incidents that require corrective action to ensure they are properly resolved in a timely manner. Interpret all emerging safety laws, regulations, and policies and develop processes that ensure Disney Cruise Line is prepared to comply with them.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (These are the minimum qualifications you need to be considered for the job.)
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent
* Proven experience and strong understanding of maritime operations and maritime safety
* Proven familiarity with maritime regulations
* Proven experience with the International Safety Management Code and Safety Management Systems
* Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrated strong organizational skills with attention to detail
* Demonstrated strong negotiating and influencing abilities
* Demonstrated problem solving skills, as well as continuous improvement process skills
* Demonstrated strong partnering, coaching and mentoring skills
* Ability to be flexible with work schedule, including willingness to travel, work weekends and holidays
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Master's degree or equivalent
* Previous shipboard or shore side based cruise line experience
* Proven experience distilling complex material into clear, concise documents
* Previous experience training others
* Proven strong auditing skills
* Demonstrated strong analytical skills
* Demonstrated strong ability to build consensus
* Proven ability to work with diverse and multi-cultural teams
* Proven ability to work independently
* A willingness to try new approaches to resolve problems
