Description:
Establish, support, and review projects to ensure timely completion according to goals and objectives. Ensure resources (budgets, IP, consultants, tools, equipment, training, etc.) are available, technical issues are reviewed and discussed, changes in schedules are communicated, and priorities are reviewed. Assess the investments made in the R&D as a whole and determine the optimal use of sources to meet company objectives
SUPPORT BROADER HEARING SAFETY GROUP INITIATIVES: Work closely with the Intelligent Hearing R&D groups in Norway and Sweden by devising, developing and delivering passive hearing technologies and development innovations that support the overall objectives of the broader hearing safety group. Establish priorities and identify best practices and coordinate the sharing of information across the entire R&D team.
DEVELOPMENT OF TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION STRATEGIES: Research and evaluate opportunities from internal marketing and sales sources, information from external sources (independent inventors, research institutes and companies, vendors, other contacts, etc.), changing regulatory environment, emerging technologies, to brainstorm ideas in developing these technologies and strategies that will result in innovative products and services.
PRODUCT COMPLIANCE: Ensure that products are in compliance with applicable regulations, certifications, and liability requirements to support product sales worldwide. Maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding requirements around the world. Establish and document internal procedures ensure products can meet compliance requirements. Quality programs are established (i.e., StandardsMark certifications for Australia and CE certifications in Europe) to meet these requirements.
INTERFACE WITH MARKETING GROUPS: Work closely with Marketing to develop long- and short-term marketing activities are planned to support product development efforts. Conduct on-going discussions with Marketing regarding product opportunity and development strategy. Review new technologies leading to potential products in identified markets with Marketing to ensure there are no conflicts with current customers and distribution channel strategies. Strategize with marketing to ensure resources allocated to new products and technologies can meet the needs of the marketplace and create opportunities for growth.
INTERFACE WITH MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS GROUPS: Review applicable technologies with manufacturing to ensure cost and efficiency targets are met and to create opportunities for growth and operational efficiency. Review new technologies to identify process support requirements. Foster and promote the Sperian core values across the group. Promote communication, teamwork, and innovation in each function.
Requirements:
B.S. in related technical field is required. A minimum of 10 years experience with strong technical level of knowledge is required. Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Systems (ISO 9001 etc) is required.
