Job Description Location: North Dallas Duration: 6 months open This project is related to the proprietary network Skills Needed: - IP - Cisco Routing and Switching 7600 series - Metro Ethernet - Sun Solaris = able to install, patch it, enable the ports - MPLS - VPN Layer 3 - Strong LAN Switching ++ Pluses = Granite, ATM (Alcatel), 3G - 5 years experience Soft Skills: - Need to be a self starter - Need to be able to work with limited direction - If given instructions and they have questions, they should have the mind set to ask a co-worker who is working on something similar and not always go to the manager - Ability to make mistakes and learn from them - Repeated mistakes = termination Other skill sets to keep an eye out for are Switching, Firewalls, and Load Balancing We are looking for IP people with experience in designing, implementing, and operating IP networks in a large network. Folks need to have knowledge of IP routing like OSPF and BGP, MPLS VPN's, LAN switching, HSRP, and metro Ethernet carriers. Successful candidates need to also have an attention to detail and be able to document their work. Knowledge in excel, word, and Visio is a must. Experience in using Granite is a plus. NOTES ON THE OPERATIONAL SIDE: This is very similar to the Design and Implementation openings. Still looking for the core Networking components, Cisco, IP networks, protocols, etc. They are looking for Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing and switching troubleshooting Provisioning Looking for an operational background Supporting Core Networks Ability to contact telco vendors: Verizon, Time Warner, AT&T, Sprint Looking for HW Troubleshooting for Cisco equipment Looking for CCNA certification VPN, LAN troubleshooting Looking for 3-5+ years of actual Cisco Troubleshooting skills Apex Systems, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages minority and female applicants to apply.
