Perot Systems Corporation is a worldwide provider of information technology services and business solutions to a broad range of clients. We are currently looking for a CLINICAL INFORMATICS CONSULTANT (RN) to join our HEALTHCARE CONSULTING PRACTICE.
The ideal candidate will possess the required skills and work experience and will be able to travel to client locations throughout the continental USA 75% and work virtually from home 25%.
Job Responsibilities:
Serves as an internal consultant for integration of systems and process. Establish a collaborative working relationship with the following:
Application Support Teams including leadership and individual members
Clinical Standards teams including leadership and members
Local ISD and on-site IT and support teams
Establish a collaborative working relationship with the designated senior executive on site including regularly scheduled face to-face meetings and supporting verbal and written communications.
Establish a collaborative working relationship with members of the organization’s executive management, operational management, and physician leadership teams as appropriate to facilitate problem-solving and ongoing communication including scheduled face-to-face meetings and supporting verbal and written communications
Represents end-user needs for system functionality requirements
Understands baseline application functionality
Recognizes and recommends potential informatics solutions to improve clinical processes
Integrates principles of clinical informatics and change process to help maintain focus on system strategies at the hospital level
Facilitates and makes recommendations for aligning hospital and system initiatives
Oversee development and maintenance of policies and procedures related to clinical system workflows and processes
Evaluates impact on system standards
Communicates with key stakeholders to represent needs of the hospital staff’s use of clinical systems.
Provide regular status reports of activities accomplished, planned future activities and issues/risks identified that will adversely impact the optimization activities with recommendations for mitigation/resolution to the VP-ACI and other key stakeholders as directed
Participate and facilitate weekly, scheduled A-Team calls with key stakeholders including the VP-ACI; VP, IT, Program Lead, local executive leadership and local ISD
Participate in regularly scheduled quarterly teleconferences and/or meetings with other Clinical Informaticists and the VP-ACI to discuss strategic and tactical approaches, tools, issues and/or risks as necessary to meet corporate objectives
Facilitate the bi-directional flow of information and communication with and between all key stakeholder groups to build and sustain understanding, cooperation and collaboration
Participates in system and hospital steering, advisory, and operational committees
Chairs hospital CPIC
Provides information and updates of project status and changes to stakeholders and hospital staff
Develops network of super-users to serve as a conduit for information dissemination and change management issue collection
Communicates system downtime to staff and serves as resource to Application Team for activities associated with the downtime
Oversees Clinical System Optimization Activities
Assessment:
Work with key stakeholder groups to evaluate key processes and workflows impacted by clinical systems such as:
Lingering and/or unresolved implementation issues including workflow, functionality, system performance, ownership, adoption, and technology
Adherence of processes to identified system standards
Multidisciplinary issues involving workflows impacting more than one clinical area or discipline
Conduct and facilitate direct, ongoing observation of clinical and ancillary environments to assess and evaluate:
General operations
Clinical and business processes and workflow
Level of system integration in end-user work routines and workflow
Functionality gaps and process work-arounds
Staff compliance to clinical system use and designed workflows
Develop deliverables that outline findings from the above assessment activities for review and discussion with executive leadership including:
Leadership and management environment and issues
Clinical and business operational environments/issues
Technology and end-user device issues
Clinician adoption
Physician adoption
Implementation (Process Redesign)
Conducts current and future state process and content analysis and utilize observations to identify clinical and business processes, work flows and application functionality that require redesign efforts
Facilitates end-ser engagement
Serves as expert for facility readiness assessments
Identify, develop and execute and support a redesign process that incorporates key stakeholders to manage process, work flow and technology optimization in collaboration with the Application Support Teams and Standards Teams
Identify and document end-user and cross functional issues that arise internal and external to the process redesign process
Develop a mechanism to ensure final resolution of problems (follow up/follow through) and communicating back to the individual reporting the problem
Assist in the development of education/training material as needed to facilitate redesign and change management processes
Education
Performs ongoing training and development of super-users
Develops education plan for ongoing clinical process and information system changes
Ensure training materials are updated to reflect current practice
Monitor/Validation/Metrics
Assists in developing, implementing and maintaining a quality plan for clinical information systems, including short term monitoring and long term outcomes measurement
Monitors staff compliance with system use and develops action plans for additional education and/or changes in processes
Serves as a Clinical Informatics resource to assist with action plan development to improve hospital compliance with system quality initiatives
Manages Issues and Risk Mitigation Plan:
Identify and document key risks and mitigation strategies
Review, update and refine risk management and Mitigation Plan as needed
Identify, define and resolve moderate to complex issues and requests escalated from the organization to the Application Support Teams, Standards Team and/or vendors as required
Escalate issues and risks that are not resolved in a timely manner to the VP-ACI and local executive leadership
Utilizes Change Management Processes for Enhancement of Clinical and Strategic Initiatives:
Review and validate assessment findings with executive management and key stakeholders
Identify key messages to stakeholders and constituents and create a comprehensive communications plan for the organization
Develop and execute a strategic and tactical roadmap to achieve optimization goals and objectives
Utilize change management resources, tools and techniques, as appropriate, to identify and mitigate actual and/or perceived adoption/adaptation issues with key stakeholders
Identify and cultivate formal and informal leaders at the end-user level to serve as system/process change advocates and super users
Develops and communicates regularly with a network of super-users to identify opportunities for change
Serves as a Change Champion to analyze issues, make recommendations for change, and present to appropriate committees
Submits and monitors requests for change; works within system standards
Develops a closed loop communication plan to keep end users informed of issue status and updates
Manage post implementation issues, concerns, change and enhancement request
Required Skills:
Clinical license required
Preferably BS in Nursing or related healthcare field
Excellent knowledge of the healthcare and healthcare IT environment
Knowledge of leading business/clinical practices and standards
Experience with EMR/EHER strategies and practices
Outstanding communication skills to work effectively with internal and external constituents
The ability to translate clinical knowledge into requirements that can be communicated to non-clinicians
Desired Skills:
Previous experience in a Clinical Informatics role with large Hospital Organization or a Healthcare Consulting Organization
Minimum Educational Requirements:
Bachelors degree in nursing required
Masters degree in nursing preferred
Minimum Certifications or Other Professional Credentials:
Prefer any of the following: RN, BSN, MSN, C; MSN, BC
