Description:
ABCNews.com is seeking an experienced Online NEWS Photo Editor to join our team. Ideal candidate must have strong news judgment and photo research skills. The ability to edit photos and captions under tight deadlines while paying close attention to details is essential. Display a clear understanding of news and ability to create basic photo illustrations that applies to stories on a news website. Knowledge of the photo agencies and photographers working in most of the major news markets is required. Must be able to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
- Work with photo agencies and editorial department to create slideshows, multimedia photo-news graphics for news.com and cable TV medias.
- Proficiency in creating slideshows and multimedia info-graphics for a news site. Ability to perform some image enhancements.
- Must be able to perform to the highest standards in breaking news situations.
- Select and edit photos for all content sections of the site.
- The qualified candidate must be a detail-oriented individual with ability to handle tight deadlines, work well under pressure and prioritize multiple projects.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Education: BS/BA in journalism or related field
Work Experience: 3-5 Years
Technical Skills:
- Candidate must have full knowledge of Adobe creative suite, particularly Photoshop CS.
- Candidates must send URL with online portfolio links and/or bring work samples if contacted for an interview.
- Candidates should include URLs with work samples on resumes.
- Must possess strong knowledge of the photo agencies for both news and entertainment within budget limitations.
Non-Technical Skills:
- Must be able to work collaboratively with editors, producers and technicians from various news divisions.
- Self-motivated, a natural problem-solver, and excellent communication skills.
