Assignment Capsule
One role will be to direct a team that works closely with our regional actuary partners to develop the Medicare Bid actuarial model. As the perfect candidate you will possess 5 years of proven actuarial experience (preferably with some type of rating or modeling exepence). You will also possess 2-3 years background in SQL with some exposure to VBA. Finally at least 3 years of proven/progressive leadership experience in necessary to ensure success.
The second role will be to direct a team that will coordinate all CMS bid financial audits and provide project management support to all of the Senior Products ACTUARIAL team. As a major player in the Medicare space, Humana undergoes a number of such audits every year. This will involve significant contact and coordination with departments throughout the company.
As a managing ACTUARY you will: lead a team of ACTUARIAL associates in the assessment of risk, opportunities, and mitigating strategies that could positively impact the financial performance of Humana. You will also actively promote a strong management team, providing technical and staff leadership in order to aid pricing, product development and improved experience reporting initiatives within the company.
Other components include the following.
Develop area-specific plans and goals that help enhance business-wide objectives.
Oversee the production and tracking of cost and utilization statistics for Humana's member population, and data mining and modeling of new intervention and outreach opportunities.
Ensure compliance with ACTUARIAL Standards of Practice and CMS regulations, guidance and instructions for bid preparation and review.
Create and support cooperative working relationships, both within the company-at-large and with outside business partners.

Role Essentials
Bachelor's Degree in ACTUARIAL Sciences, Applied Mathematics or a related field.
ACTUARIAL experience in the group health solutions industry or a similar ACTUARIAL work environment. Prior Medicare experience is desirable, but not required.
Membership in the American Academy of Actuaries and Associate or Fellow status with the Society of Actuaries.
It is very important that the successful candidate for this role is an excellent team player.
Role Desirables
Completion of at least 3 or more CAS/SOA examinations
Reporting Relationships
You will have between 2 and 6 direct reports, and you will report to a Director. This area is under the leadership of the SVP, Medicare Operations.
