Description:
Subject matter expert in military communications and airborne networking to support the design, development, and integration of CNS/ATM avionics systems into US Coast Guard HH-65 aircraft.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide communications technical expertise and engineering assistance to the IPT team in support of U/VHF, SATCOM, and HF communication system integrations into the USCH H-65 aircraft. This to include: plain/secure (Type I and III encryption) voice, plain/secure (Type I and III encryption) data/messaging/imagery transfer, and data link implementation.
Assist in the development of communications mission planning procedures.
Provide subject matter expertise to CDU software development and testing, in regards to Mil-std-1553 control of communications equipment.
Provide subject matter expertise to CBT or other training curriculum development..
Required Skills:
Understanding of DOD, Public Safety, and Maritime communications systems and how they integrate with, and enhance USCG Maritime Domain Awareness requirements. Specifically, UHF MILSATCOM, Tactical Data Information Systems, Imagery Transfer, Havequick and, Sincgars..
Possess a knowledge of avionics data busses including Mil-std-1553 and ARINC-429 data bus structure.
Must have the ability to write, perform, and maintain system level test procedures to ensure requirements are adequately met as well as other technical documentation as applicable.
Knowledge of drawings and data systems in order to understand design requirements.
Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems.
Must have the ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.
Must be well skilled in Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007 to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.
Must have active Secret clearance.
Desired Skills:
Strong technical (avionics, radio systems, aircraft lifecycle support, etc.) background.
US Military experience a plus.
Master degree is desired.
