LEAD PRODUCER - Baby and Pregnancy
The Disney Interactive Media Group (DIMG) is responsible for global creation and delivery of Disney-branded entertainment and lifestyle content across all interactive media platforms including PCs, mobile phones and video game consoles. The division operates two content creation units, Disney Interactive Studios and Disney Online, which work together to take advantage of platform-specific expertise to create a line of connected, multi-platform entertainment experiences. Disney Interactive Studios self publishes and distributes a broad portfolio of video games and interactive entertainment for handheld, mobile and console platforms globally. Disney Online produces the No. 1 kids entertainment and family community Web site, Disney.com as well as the Disney Family Network, Disney mobile entertainment and an industry leading suite of online virtual worlds for kids and families. DIMG also provides interactive technology strategy, solutions and execution for The Walt Disney Company.
POSITION SUMMARY

The Disney Online Mom and Family Portfolio of sites are dedicated to inspiring and helping parents in their everyday lives with kids. The BabyZone.com Lead Producer is someone who is highly motivated to build content experiences with this mission in mind, especially when it comes to guiding women through the journey of pregnancy and the pivotal first 2 years of a baby’s life. The Lead Producer will have responsibility for driving a strategy to grow BabyZone.com from its current second-ranked place to the number-1 online destination for preconception, pregnancy, and baby. Based on research, usability patterns and market opportunity, the Lead Producer will initiate and lead enhancements to the site functionality and design. The Lead Producer will also be responsible for management of the day-to-day editorial operation of the site, overseeing at least one associate producer and one producer as well as a collection of expert contributors and freelance writers.
The Lead Producer will be expected to partner with the sales team to identify strong opportunities for advertisers, including original content partnerships or video series that support our lifestages sales strategy. The person in this role will be called on to represent the strategic goals of his/her content area to the rest of the organization, other groups within DIMG, and the sales team, as needed.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee producer and associate producer in site programming and establishing editorial plan for the site, guided by traffic data and market research.
Establish priorities for site enhancement and tool development, based on research, usability patterns and market opportunity.
Lead site enhancement projects through development process, championing product vision. Direct freelance bloggers and writers in the creation of new content.
Research and manage content partners.
Work closely with sales and promotions in developing new sales opportunities as well as production of ongoing sales projects.



QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION

4-6 years web producer experience, with significant experience developing web products for moms. Experience with developing an editorial calendar geared toward the parent audience. Ability to manage people and work closely with a team. Ability to communicate well, promoting editorial agenda in meetings, on the phone, in e-mail with internal as well as external teams. Ability to negotiate effectively with other functional groups for limited resources. Excellent writing skills needed with an ability to write and program for a family web audience.


SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED

Comfort with online tools: traffic analysis, content publishing system, Excel and Powerpoint. Ability to make use of traffic data to inform editorial decision making.
Familiarity with mom audience and family-oriented content required.
