Company Job Title: Power Plant MechanicChenega Job Title: Power Plant OperatorClearance: NoneLocation: AntarcticaReports To: Director of EngineeringFLSA Status: Full-time, ExemptPrepared Date: 10/7/2009Approved Date: 10/7/2009SummaryThe employee(s) will be responsible for the preventive maintenance, repair and overhaul of primary Power Plant and various other emergency or back-up generators. A valid US Passport is required. US citizenship or permanent residence is required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position1. Performs preventive maintenance on primary Power Plant generators and various emergency generators.2. Performs on-site repairs and overhauls of generator engines.3. Responds to station power outages and equipment failures as required.4. Completes maintenance records and documents all maintenance performed and maintains operation logbooks as required.5. Schedules Genset use in order to maintain a 3000-hour spread between engines.6. Operates Power Plant equipment in an efficient and economical manner.7. Coordinates with the Power and Water Production Supervisor to order repair and/or spare parts and assemblies.8. Maintains control of Power Plant tools and manuals.9. Complies with applicable Safety, Environment, Health, and Waste Management policies and procedures.10. Advises the Power and Water Production Supervisor of the status of power production equipment and systems.11. Performs duties in support of Facilities, Engineering, Maintenance, and Construction (FEMC) Division metrics (as provided by supervisor).12. Supports the achievement of RPSC metrics, whether metrics are directly or indirectly, effected by this position's work activities.13. Complies with all RPSC Environmental Health and Safety, and Quality Assurance, requirements and goals.14. Provides documentation to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.15. Works to achieve RPSC goals and contractual commitments.16. Other duties as assignedSupervisionNoneMinimum QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.• Individual must be able to successfully pass a medical, dental and psychological examination prior to departure.Education and/or Experience• High School diploma or equivalent is required.• Three plus (3+) years documented exp. in diesel powered generators, marine diesel engines, or industrial engines is required.• Experience with maintenance and repair of diesel electric generating equipment required, along with the methods, hazards, and safety precautions related to diesel engines.Computer SkillsMicrosoft OfficeCertificates, Licenses, Registrations, Clearance: • A valid Driver's License.• Valid US PassportChenega Corporation is an EOE.
