HL7 Developer
Summary
This position is responsible for coordinating, developing, testing and maintaining all HL7 interfaces between Genoptix Medical Laboratory, customers of Genoptix, partner laboratories, billing engines, and research organizations used by Genoptix. The applicant should have experience with HL7 file formats, interfaces written to send/receive HL7 files, and a general background on file based EDI, writing SQL queries, and various ways of formatting data. The applicant will need to communicate daily with multiple customers and vendors in order to successfully implement and maintain all electronic interfaces. In a given week, up to 10 hours of conference calls may be needed to keep projects on track. The remainder of the time would be spent developing and enhancing all existing HL7 interfaces, and expanding our capabilities to interface with various systems, and attempting to increase stability, and maintainability of our interfaces.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Plan, manage, and coordinate successful implementation of HL7 interfaces for orders from customers of Genoptix to Genoptix.
· Develop and maintain HL7 interfaces for orders from Genoptix to various partner labs.
· Develop and maintain HL7 interfaces for results from partner labs to Genoptix, Inc.
· Maintain and enhance HL7 interfaces from Genoptix to customers of Genoptix.
· Document solutions and assist with reporting needs.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination thereof and one year of experience in software development with a focus on relational databases. Experience with web and windows applications. The ability to resolve technically oriented problems, to communicate effectively with vendor and support personnel, and the ability to learn quickly.
