Position Description:
• The Network Engineer is responsible for the efficiency, support, and maintenance for selected corporate systems and networks. Responsible for maintaining the required standards and the appropriate level of security of the corporate systems and networks. • Will maintain and recommend network solutions including routers, switches, and firewalls, for projects. • Research and recommend network failover and redundancy alternatives. • Will administer a Windows 2003 network running various software applications including COTS packages such as Serena TeamTrack, VMWare, as well as Active Directory, SQL Server 2005, Windows Server 2003, and IIS. • Maintain configuration management overseeing software, hardware, and documentation as they relate to these systems. • Provide training to junior team members and new users on systems. • Writing papers to include business marketing material, white papers, proposals, technical reviews.
Technical Requirements:
• Configure network routers, modems, switches and other network components. • Configure and administer Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems. • Provide expertise on network maintenance, design, and enhancements. • Must be able to evaluate and maintain networking monitoring suites and tools. • Stay up to date with networking, security (encryption included) technology and standards. • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Should be comfortable working in a team environment and willing to assist various projects simultaneously. • Must have technical knowledge of Windows 2000, Active Directory, IIS (Web Server), Firewalls, VMWare Exchange Server, TCP/IP networking, Microsoft Office; SQL Server 2005; Microsoft .NET, C++ Programming; computer hardware and network troubleshooting and repair.
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other related discipline. Advanced degree in a related field a plus
• Recommended Certifications: - Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) - Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) - Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) - Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) - VMWare Certified Professional
