Description:
General Summary Practices Occupational Therapy under the laws and rules of OT/PT/AT Licensure Board. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, implements Occupational Therapy services for patients as appropriate for newborns, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Additional responsibilities include treatment and documentation; demonstrating safe and professional behavior as dictated by hospital and departmental policies; providing education on Occupational Therapy related subjects to patients, families, hospital personnel, and the community. Minimum Qualifications 1. Associate level graduate from an accredited college or university for Occupational Therapy Assistant. 2. Ability to work independently. 3. Strong customer service and team orientation. 4. Ability to establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 5. Ability to accurately perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet multiple demands. 6. Flexibility in day-to-day actions and duties. Physical Requirements / Environmental DemandsRequires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds (with assistance). Lifting patients, pushing beds, carts and wheelchairs (with patients); carrying and moving heavy objects; walking long distances each day. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Principle Duties 1.Follows plan of care developed by Therapist. 2.Appropriately progresses treatment / gives instruction / progresses towards goals. 3.Provides appropriate documentation and billing to meet department standards. 4.Participates in patient rounds and interdisciplinary meetings. 5 .Provides teaching and educational material to patient, family and significant others. 6.Provides supervision to aides, students and volunteers. 7.Contributes to program development and process redesign. 8.Meets minimum requirements of department educational plan. 9.Performs other related duties as assigned
