JOB SUMMARY: Provides custom designed, fabricated and fitted external orthoses to orthotic patients, based on clinical assessment and physician prescription for the purpose of restoring function or providing protection.Bachelor's degree and Certificate in Orthotics, or bachelor's degree in orthotics. Successful completion of a National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) accredited orthotic residency.Must be a Certified Orthotist (CO) in good standing with the American Board for Certification in Orthotics & Prosthetics. Must hold current State of Ohio License from the State Board of Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics. Typical physical demands include walking and standing for long periods of time. Manual dexterity to perform patient evaluations, cast impression, plaster mold modifications, and device adjustments. Visual acuity such as to observe gait, movement, or assess skin integrity. Clear speech to perform patient education. Hearing to understand patient's description of symptoms. Cognitive and analytical skills to make appropriate clinical judgments regarding patient care. Communication and empathy skills to interact with patients who may have severe disability. *YH
