SUMMARY: Reports to Appraisal Department Manager in the performance of all assigned duties as described below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Assist with the ordering of both residential and commercial appraisals. Involves reviewing all appraisal order requests to insure accuracy; determining the appropriate type of appraisal to order and selecting a qualified appraiser who can meet the required delivery time at the best price to accommodate loan dynamics.
Review all appraisals ordered for accuracy and for the scope of work as requested in the engagement letter.
Maintain system to track engagement letters, appraisals received, appraisals reviewed.
Responsible for recording, reviewing and approving for payment all appraisal invoices ordered through the Appraisal department.
Assist with periodic update to Capital Bank's Appraisal Policy to insure that it reflects changes in federal and state regulations impacting appraisals. Monitoring of the FDIC and OCC laws and standards as well as professional standards as promulgated by the Appraisal Sub-committee (ASC) of the FFIEC and The Appraisal Foundation for USPAP is required.
Assist with the monitoring and maintenance of Capital Bank's Approved Appraiser List. Includes verifying licenses status, checking for disciplinary action taken by the North Carolina Appraisal Board for infractions of the USPAP standards, reviewing resumes and evaluating sample appraisals as needed.
Assist lending personnel with the use of the Automated Valuation Model (AVM).
Provide advice and training to bank lending associates, credit administration, mortgage division personnel and management as needed. Address questions, and assist with problem solutions as necessary.
Maintain all forms used in conjunction with the appraisal ordering and review process.
Assist with departmental preparations for regulatory exams.
Other duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in business, or related field; and five (5) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the appraisal profession. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a current certified residential license as prescribed by the North Carolina Appraisal Board.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Expertise with spreadsheets and word processing applications and ability to use email, intranet and other various applications needed to perform the duties of the position.
LANGUAGE and COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
