Detailed Description 1. Purpose Statement: (A brief outline/description of the role) As global businesses have applied world-class technologies to achieve exceptional business results, the need for world-class expertise in shaping and architecting the storage, retrieval and delivery of information has become increasingly important. The Oracle Database Architect responsible for strategic planning, and technical leadership. Responsible for enterprise architecture standards and new corporate standards. Evaluate and recommend new emerging technologies. The Oracle Data Management Architect is also responsible for managing data that moves through the company and coordinates work with various teams in the IT department and within business areas that will most effectively deliver and use data information. The data architect provides leadership and vision and sets the technical data strategy. Acting as the lead technical expert and principal designer for the enterprise data architecture and models, the data architect coordinates the movement, enhancement, integration, quality and availability of data through all the business processes, transaction processing systems and data analysis/report delivery systems. 2. Main Accountabilities: (Outline a list of the main accountabilities for the role) Management and leadership o Provides comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT staff at the highest technical level for all aspects of data architecture design and modeling. o Works with the business and customers to understand requirements and ensure the consistency of data use across the enterprise. o Provides highly technical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of data analysis and reporting technologies that assist functional business units in meeting their strategic objectives. o Shape and lead holistic data solutions that translate technology shortfalls into transformation programs. o Envision new and innovative technology approaches and predict probable business outcomes. o Shape and lead large scale technology design activities. o Lead assessments of high performance IT alternatives. Communication o Effectively communicate data management and architecture issues and solutions to all levels of the organization. o Possesses written, verbal and presentation skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. o Effectively document data architecture and data models to be used to communicate solution to levels of the organization. o Maintain appropriate relationships with and properly utilize third party alliances and vendors. Data Architecture o Responsible for enterprise technical data architecture including standardization and metadata strategic and tactical methodology. o Understand and articulate value propositions of various data architecture designs and implementations. o Ability to design, develop and drive implementation of complex data architecture solutions. o Manages the mapping of data sources, documents interfaces and data movement, designs the movement of data throughout systems and processes, defines standard and integrative views of data, defines technical standards and guidelines for data architecture, manages related metadata, ensures data quality focus and communicates the enterprise data architecture throughout the company. Data Governance o Formulate and implement a data governance model including data ownership, data stewardship, and polices to create and manage data. Data Standards o Translate client user requirements into data standards and taxonomies. Master Data Management o Design and implement a master data management strategy that will address organizational business needs. Data Quality Plan and implement a data quality solution using data profiling and data cleansing tools 3. Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Training, Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or the equivalent related experience required. Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field of study preferred. Business Experience Requirements: Minimum of Ten years diverse Information Technology experience working with complex data architectures and models required. Experience working with relational and multidimensional data analysis and delivery software technologies required. Experience working with logical and physical data models, including knowledge of both transactional and dimensional data modeling required. Experience with stored procedures and data transition triggers required. Knowledge of Data Warehousing and OLTP environments across both thick and n-tier architectures required. Demonstrated ability to make strong judgments, work effectively with all levels of clients and IT management and staff, and work at the highest technical level of all phases of system design and information delivery technologies required. Technical Skills Requirements: 10 plus years solid experience as an Oracle Database Administrator with Oracle RDBMS, RAC, SQL, PL/SQL and database design structures. Experience with very large database architecture a plus Solid experience as an Oracle Database Administrator with Oracle RDBMS, RAC, SQL, PL/SQL and database design structures. Database Administration experience: Expertise in one or more DBMS (Oracle, MS SQL, DB2, UBD, Teradata) Expertise in Data Modeling and Data Mining Tools (Er win, Designer/2000, Rational Rose, Power Designer, Embarcadero, System Architect Expertise in one or more OLAP, Reporting or Data Mining tools (Cognos, Brio, Microstrategy, Business objects, Crystal, IBI, Actuate, Arcplan, Proclarity, Hyperion Essbase, SAS, Microsoft Analysis Services) Experience in one or more ETL/ECTL tools (Informatica s PowerCenter/PowerMart , Ascential's Data Stage, Cogno's Decision stream, AB Initio, MS SQL/2000 DTS, ETI, Acta) Experience with Data Warehousing/BI experience Experience with full life cycle Development Salary USD 95000 - 105000 Per Year Career Level Required Experienced (Non-Manager) Experience Required 7+ to 10 Years Education Required Certification Job Type Employee Job Status Full Time
