DESCRIPTION The candidate will assist in the development, specification and communication of the technology architecture plans, the infrastructure components required to support it and in the integration of corporate, distributed and/or Client Server business area architectures. Responsibilities: Development and maintenance of a business and system architecture for firm-wide operations. Participates in system architecture studies of new and existing IT systems to permit development of integrated corporate, distributed and Client Server business systems, which operate at low cost levels. Recommends the appropriate computer platform, workstations and communication linkage required to support specific related business processes and information flows. Analysis and recommendation of new or different technologies which will enhance current systems and support overall corporate and business goals. Document clearly and concisely architecture, analysis and design documentation in a highly professional standardized format. Technical support to client and IT management to ensure development of efficient application systems utilizing established standards, procedures and SDLC methodologies. Performs related duties as assigned or requested. Engineer configuration of monitoring solutions based on Patrol 7.x architecture and BMC Event Manager Perform configuration for various monitoring solutions (user administration, console definitions, monitoring metrics and instrumentations, agents, management infrastructure). Develop reports using BMC Performance Manager Reporting and Patrol Central Console. Train application and OS administrators on using Distribution Server and Patrol Console. Test new versions of agents and knowledge modules. Create implementation plans for new releases of BMC Performance Manager products. Provide documentation to implementation team on installing and configuring BMC Performance Manager tools. Provide documentation on troubleshooting various BMC Performance Manager Tools. Work with operators to ensure events are being managed properly within BMC Impact Explorer. Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with an advanced degree preferred and at least two, typically four or more years experience in information systems architecture methodologies, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Fully conversant in Systems Analysis and Design Methodology and Object Oriented Analysis and Design requires knowledge of systems architecture, good consultative and communications skills, the ability to work effectively with client and IT management and staffs. Skills Required: 2 + years BMC Performance Manager (Patrol) administration 2 + years experience with BMC Knowledge Modules such as Oracle Internet Services MQ Series 2 + years experience with some or all of the following BMC system management tools BMC Patrol Central Architecture BMC Patrol Configuration Manager BMC Distribution Server BMC Performance Manager Reporting BMC Service Impact Manager BMC Event Manager BMC ProactiveNet BMC Perform/Predict Experience with UNIX Shell Scripting Experience with PSL or Perl Experience with Solaris 10 zones a plus Experience with Oracle a plus SKILLS 2 + years BMC Performance Manager (Patrol) administration 2 + years experience with BMC Knowledge Modules such as o Oracle o Internet Services o MQ Series 2 + years experience with some or all of the following BMC system management tools o BMC Patrol Central Architecture o BMC Patrol Configuration Manager o BMC Distribution Server o BMC Performance Manager Reporting o BMC Service Impact Manager o BMC Event Manager o BMC ProactiveNet o BMC Perform/Predict Experience with UNIX Shell Scripting Experience with PSL or Perl Experience with Solaris 10 zones a plus Experience with Oracle a plus Synectics offers competitive salaries and a full suite of benefits.
