DESCRIPTION A Netcool Consultant is needed to review newly built Netcool 7.2.1 applications and make sure these systems are ready for production. Tasks will include finding any performance and operational concerns that might cause unscheduled outages and any unplanned maintenance due to its current configuration build, helping design a fail-over configuration to provide high availability for the Netcool Omnibus application, and providing guidance or corrective actions to help resolve the open Problem Management Records (PMRs) with IBM. This consultant will have three major responsibilities: resolving current PMRs open with IBM, operational readiness, and fail-over design. Resolving current PMRs open with IBM for this build: Journal Information not being sent READ connection disconnecting; this problem is also present within the current 7.0 production system running the 7.0 ARSgateway Remedy version 8 Gateway is not at the latest Protocol (12) Remedy Gateway Error Operational Readiness Deliverable will be a written daily status with information detailing findings, corrections performed and recommendations; all system changes will be done with an internal Netcool administrator present Omnibus Netcool patch review Review of all logs to determine if any application faults are present Review of all database triggers and actions to determine Object Server is maintained properly Review of customer's triggers to determine if performance concerns are present and causing issues with Netcool's operation Review Netcool's application performance in reference to the server hardware and O/S ARSgateway health check, includes configuration review and an evaluation of bidirectional connection integrity ARSgateway open problem support; current open problem of journal data updates cause the READ connection to disconnect (IBM support has recommended version 8 gateway should eliminate this long term issue, which we have found it has not. This problem could be not with the version of gateway used, but could be within the Gateway or Object Server configurations.) Fail-over Design Provide a design document detailing one or several options with information detailing steps to follow to provide fail-over; pros and cons for each option are required Help design a high availability fail-over solution for the Omnibus Netcool 7.2.1 system (Two identical new Servers are within the system pair. System has a floating IP address for trap destinations with several Probes and a ARSgateway. High availability can have a small amount, 3 min.~, of application interruption.
