Job DescriptionInformation Management Technical Manager Overview: Responsible for providing enterprise solutions to existing and new technical/business processes that utilize data management, movement, and reporting concepts including RDBMS and ETL. Responsible for collaborative work efforts with various Information Management/IT teams to deliver timely and effective solutions that correspond with client enterprise architecture direction. Primary Responsibilities: Ensure effectiveness and growth of current and future Information Technology systems with respect to data management. Participate in the following: Assist with the review, approval, and implementation of business requirements for data management and movement. Perform data conversion, quality and verification activities commensurate with established data governance and quality policies. Identify areas and opportunities for improvement of Datawarehouse and operational data stores ETL processes. Ensure database uptime meets defined service level agreements through the design and implementation of a monitoring strategy for the SQL Server database environment. Improve data process and procedures. Participate in the following. Evaluate current processes and compare against enterprise goals and industry best practices. Assist the database, ETL, and reporting teams with problem solving efforts with respect to production support needs. Provide proactive solutions to reduce man hours dedicated to base support activities. Work within domain team to review new/technologies. Work with and/or develop re-useable tools to assist in the following. Metadata management Data profiling. Gathering of database performance and capacity metrics. Benchmarking resource needs for systems that require database and ETL support. Required Skills: 7+ years experience and knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2000/2005/2008) RDBMS production environments including monitoring, maintenance, tuning, performance, and capacity management. Knowledge of efficient data movement tools (Informatica, SSIS) used to move moderate to large collections of data to and from various sources. Ability to design and implement data movement and conversion strategies influenced by release constraints and aggressive conversion timelines. Experience profiling data that is sourced from multiple applications including HP OpenVMS and Microsoft Access. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to write both technical and non-technical documentations to be understood and read by all levels within the organization. Good analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to understand and translate requirements into technical design. Ability to assimilate/understand business processes and subsequent impact to conversion. High level of energy and enthusiasm. Must have strong interpersonal, organizational and advanced problem solving skills. Needs to be resilient; resolving conflicts quickly to achieve desired business results.
