Purpose of Role: This position is responsible for assisting the Pilot Plant Manager with maintaining Pilot Plant equipment, as well as operational activities that include process and product development. The associate will provide support for setting up a Planned Maintenance Schedule for all Pilot Plant Equipment and carry out weekly or monthly maintenance activities. In addition, the associate will provide support for daily activities (equipment and production development, scheduling and execution) which include experimental set-up, matrix proof-reading, monitoring of pilot plant equipment and functionality, addressing daily maintenance issues, equipment changeovers, experimental execution, operational support and overall sanitation of the Pilot Plant. Principal Accountabilities · Monitor and help maintain associate safety and food safety at all times in the Pilot Plant. · Set-up and execute Planned Maintenance Activities for all Pilot Plant Equipment. This position will also be in charge of coordinating all changeover activities on the Pilot Plant equipment. · Work with plant maintenance group to set up MIS numbers for all equipment, ordering and tracking of spare parts as it relates to the Pilot Plant, as well as perform the role of liaison between the Plant and Pilot Plant regarding unplanned maintenance work orders. · Operates and assembles process equipment/machinery. · Manages, records and receives inventory to and from the Pilot Plant. Informs the Pilot Plant manager when new product or raw material needs to be ordered. · Provides Quality control for finished product produced in the Pilot Plant and ensures that all product leaving the site is safe. · Use creativity and innovation to solve mechanical or organizational problems occurring during experiments, test trials and production runs. React to getting assignments completed in a timely, effective manner. · Plans, collects materials for, and executes trial production and development tests. · Manages and updates Standard Operating Procedures for equipment and procedures in the Pilot Plant. · Collects and analyses data on critical process parameters to draw conclusive decisions from results. · Interacts with Product and Process Development as well as other R&D associates to discuss test objectives and results. Documents test results. · Brainstorms, screens and works on feasibility and development of options focusing in the identification of business and process risks. · Meets with project leaders to gain understanding of business and project key priorities. Actively takes responsibility for the work load in the schedule. · Cleans and sanitizes equipment/machinery and plant facility according to good manufacturing and sanitation practices. · Performs other tasks as assigned.
