Description:
The RMK Timberland Group is recruiting a Portfolio Manager to provide portfolio management and client services, primarily to institutional clients for international investments.
The International Portfolio Manager will be involved in a broad array of portfolio management activities that require expertise in the following essential areas:
Portfolio Management - proactively manage clients’ portfolios to meet their objectives including returns, cash flow, social responsibility, and time horizons.
Client Relationships – proactively communicate with clients. Ability to understand client objectives and relate to unique client personalities. Attend client meetings and provide client entertainment.
Fund Structure – participate in the development of controlling documents for complex fund legal structures in multiple international jurisdictions.
Property Acquisition and Dispositions – represent the client/portfolio on any potential acquisition or disposition. Review analysis of potential timberland investment properties and dispositions.
Asset Allocation – understand clients’ objectives in order to allocate their timberland investments.
Appraisals and Portfolio Performance – review and approve appraisals and participate in quarterly portfolio reviews.
Portfolio Property Management Plans – facilitate and approve both strategic and property management plans.
Portfolio Property Budgeting – coordinate and review, and approve portfolio property budgets, both annual budgets and 5-year strategic budgets.
The minimum educational requirements for this position include one or more degrees in forestry or a natural resources related field. In addition, one or more advanced degrees in finance, investing, or an MBA is preferred.
This position requires a minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including experience in non-United States forestry operations, finance and client services. Experience gained through employment within the forest products industry, a timberland investment management organization, forestry consulting firm or investment management firm is preferred. The International Portfolio Manager must have experience and a proven record of performance in most of the essential areas listed above. Simultaneous management of multiple clients and multiple portfolios is required. Good quantitative skills are also helpful.
The Portfolio Manager must have excellent negotiation skills, the ability to respond to complex client requests while maintaining the client’s confidence and good will, and the ability to synthesize large amounts of data to accomplish broad client goals. The Portfolio Manager should possess well-developed interpersonal skills and be a strong team player. In addition, the ideal candidate should be self-motivated, tenacious, able to operate at both detail and broader levels, focused on results, yet able to multi-task with several projects for several clients and their portfolios. The candidate must be able and willing to travel outside of the United States up to 50% of their time.
The applicant must read, write, understand, and speak at least one language in addition to English.
The primary office location for this position within the United States will be determined once the successful candidate is identified.
