JOB SUMMARY
This position is for the NIGHT SHIFT ONLY FROM MIDNIGHT to 10:00am.This is a four day work week (4 hours per day/forty hours per week).The successful candidate will be both self-motivated and collaborative as is necessary to operate on an overnight shift in the relative isolation of this new, start-up data center while also interacting with users and vendors to resolve issues quickly. The ideal candidate will have experience in television and/or media systems support and administration.
Overview
?This position is an operational role and supports the Jelly Roll initiative Enterprise wide.The position is located in the Disney ABC Television Group
?This position is an overnight support shift that works 10 hours 4 days per week with shifts from Midnight to 10am. Training will take place on day shift.
?Strategic goal is to develop an interoperability framework that supports moving media and metadata across TWDC Business Units and with outside business partners effectively:
?Identify and adopt application standards :
Metadata (UID, XML, SMPTE, MPEG, etc.)
Companywide Nomenclature and Taxonomy
Programmatic interface to existing and future media systems (the “connector”) – developer’s kit published (online and on CD)
?Establish and share an orchestration engine providing command and control
?Positions TWDC to react much more rapidly to new business opportunities while driving operational efficiency for existing processes.
?Connectors built and operational for:
Documentum (Java), Avalon (C#), AnyStream (Web Service to Web Service), MassStore (Ruby)
?Generic media asset management application in place and operational
?Disney customizations for search and security in place and operational
Overall Responsibilities
· Reports to the Director of Enterprise Media Management Systems (EMMS)
· Shift time is from midnight to 10am 4 days/week.
· Investigates, analyzes, documents, and resolves hardware problems on datacenter computer systems; performs technical assistance, and support on a wide range of servers and datacenter hardware.
· Monitors hardware and application operations for European and East Coast customers to ensure consistent operation of the EMMS environment and applications and, where necessary, remediates application and hardware issues.
· Installs, configures, and maintains computers, networks, servers, and other related equipment, devices, and systems in the datacenter.
· Documents data recovery requirements for operating systems, application configuration, and data, then executes and monitors back-up schedules.
· Implement and maintain tools and processes to allow automated and remote systems management.
· Obtain and maintain the necessary licensing for all application, operating system, and infrastructure within the datacenter.
· Maintains, and where absent creates, inventory, architectural and operational documentation for all systems, application and infrastructure in the datacenter.
· Knowledge of a wide range of computer systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications.
· Specific knowledge of:
· EMC - Documentum DAM, Avalon HSM, Clariion SAN, DiskExtender
· IBM - WebSphere, DB2 and Tivoli
· Microsoft - SQL Server
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Responsible for responding to, addressing and following up on customer technical issues.
· Ability to diagnose and rectify a wide range of computer hardware and software problems.
· Works with other Business Unit technical staff to implement, configure, test and deploy additional software and hardware to integrate with EMS services.
· Knowledge and understanding of Windows, Solaris, Linux, and MacOS server systems, and related network infrastructure.
· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
· Deploys security related patches and fixes for applications and operating systems.
Work Experience
· A minimum of 4 years professional experience in systems administration of diverse datacenter environments requried.
· The successful candidate will be both self-motivated and collaborative as is necessary to operate in the relative isolation of this new, start-up data center while also interacting with users and vendors to resolve issues quickly.
· The ideal candidate will have experience in television and/or media systems support and administration.
Technical Skills
· Knowledge of a wide range of computer systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications required.
· Specific knowledge of: EMC - Documentum DAM, Avalon HSM, Clariion SAN, DiskExtender; IBM - WebSphere, DB2 and Tivoli; Microsoft - SQL Serve requiredr.
· Knowledge and understanding of Windows, Solaris, Linux, and MacOS server systems, and related network infrastructure, and ability to diagnose and rectify a wide range of hardware and software problems under those Oss also required.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
Job-Related Education
· B.S Computer Science, Engineering or Technical degree required
